Rust is not a part of the metal.
It is a corruption of the metal.
Metal does not begin rusty...it becomes rusty.
So do we.
Corruption.Corrosion. Its all the same.

I never want a heart of steel. It is bound to corrode faster. I don’t want my heart to be my downfall…let it be something less endearing…like my liver.

There are two types of growth...

crescere- to increase to expand...to increase in intensity...to cultivate.

or

gliscere- to swell...to increase in power and violence.



Growth is the confession that we are not yet there.
I see too many people (that I love so dearly) with hands clamped firmly over their mouths refusing to just STEP FORWARD.
Words of encouragement are not propellers. They are just words. Time is not a safety net...its a noose.
I want to push. I want scream.
GO!


But its not my place.
So I'm going to run jump fly fall without them....
and hope they catch up.

Its almost fall. I smelled it last night. It crept under the covers through my open window and invaded my dreams. I'm not ready. It's too soon. Autumn makes me feel heavy and drunk and distracted. I don't want to let go of summer's slow steady clarity yet...but there it goes....and gone.

I have so much to do...I don't know where to start. So I'm just going to sit and breath until auto-pilot kicks on.
Ready? Go.

I just got new ink on Sunday.

it hurts like hell.
but very worth it.

It came out beautifully, but is WAY bigger than I expected.
I LOVE it....
even though it's downright excruciating...
but I do get to wander around wearing a toga made of my bathrobe for at least 2 or 3 days.
